The medieval turn-based strategy game by Yaza Games, Inkulinati, has received its very first major update today. Titled St. Francis and Friends, players will see more content added than they know what to do with.
The game is what they call an ink-based strategy, where it looks hand-drawn and even performing actions triggers a large hand to appear and begin drawing or erasing whatever action you chose. In this major update, there is a new Inkulinati Master in town with a brutal Army of Beasts to control. The Master comes equipped with new hand drawings, and several different weapons to wield including spear-wielding Pigeons. St. Francis also comes with a slew of new abilities such as Stigma Laser and the entirely new ability that allows players to add Armor.
There are a few new minimaps and battlefields for players to traverse and enjoy within the game’s Journey Mode. While you’re there, you might notice a new battlefield object as well; the Pilgrims Shrine. The battlefield randomization system has also received an update, where players are now less likely to be given the same battlefield in succession.
The developers mentioned a tiny playable Inkulinati who just so happens to be Andreas from Penance, another game that shares a similar art style. When playing in Duel Mode or Journey Mode, there will be an option to sport Andreas’ look. The folks at Yaza Games met the developers at Obsidian Entertainment, and after becoming fast friends and sending a few emails back and forth, the duo decided that it was a neat idea to add Andreas from Obsidian’s game as a little Easter egg.
Yaza Games and Daedalic Entertainment mentioned that the players’ feedback is very important and that they will continue to implement changes as they see fit from the feedback they are given.
Inkulinati is available on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, and PC.
