Back in 2019, Ellada Games released the 2D survival game, Niffelheim on console, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Two years later, the game found itself on Android and iOS. The developers have now added it to the Google Play Pass, giving players a chance to enjoy the title in its entirety without any ads or in-app purchases.
Niffelheim, as its name suggests, finds its roots in Norse Mythology and the period of Vikings. Players take on the role of one such Viking, who died during the battle. This isn’t the end for them, for these brave fighters move to Valhalla, to feast with the Allfather. However, our Viking, unfortunately, finds himself in Niffelheim, the realm of the dead, which is under Hel’s rule.
The game combines elements of survival, exploration, and combat to create a challenging experience for players. Journeying from the depths of Hel in Niffelheim to the golden doors of Asgard won’t be easy. The former itself is highly unforgiving and procedurally generated levels don’t make it any simpler.
Players will of course, have an arsenal of weapons, armour, and magical items at their beck and call to help them on this adventure. If gameplay wasn’t already intricate, then there’s also quite a complex crafting system waiting for you. This will allow for the creation of powerful weapons from the right combination of simple tools.
Speaking about the release, developers at Ellada Games said: “We are thrilled to bring Niffelheim to Google Play Pass. We believe that this will allow even more players to experience the game and immerse themselves in the world of Norse mythology.”
You can download Niffelheim by being a subscriber for the Google Play Pass, or pay a premium of $4.99 and get your hands on the game. Visit the official website for more information.
